The Unioto Lady Shermans will get a chance to avenge a regular season loss against Miami Trace, when the two teams meet Saturday afternoon for the Division 2 Sectional Championship at Zane Trace High School.
Unioto beat Hillsboro Thursday 52-42 while Miami Trace handled Chillicothe 44-22 in semifinal action.
Hillsboro got away to a quick start against the Lady Tanks, grabbing leads of 7-2 and later 12-10 after the first quarter. But, the second quarter was all Unioto as they went on a 16-0 run to take the lead, which was 31-18 at half and later 44-27 after three periods.
The Lady Indians made a run in the final few minutes of the game, cutting the deficit to 8 points, before the 52-42 final.
Unioto was led by Taylor Overly's 21 points- 17 of which came in the first half. Tori Cox added 14 points and Alexis Overly 11.
Hillsboro had two players in double figures, 17 from Kaylynn Bell and 11 from Madison Snyder.
(18-4) Unioto shot 21/51 from the field for 42%- including 1/9 from the arc and went 7/9 from the charity stripe. They had 19 turnovers.
(11-12) Hillsboro shot 17/69 from the floor at 25%- including 4/12 from the arc. The Lady Indians were 4/11 from the foul line and committed 20 turnovers.
The Unioto-Miami Trace sectional final will be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ and IHeart Radio, with airtime at 2:30pm Saturday as part of a tournament broadcast triple-header.
Following that game, WKKJ will also have Southeastern-Alexander from Athens at 4:30pm and wrap-up with Piketon vs West Union at 6:15pm.
